love it! whoopeeee! great job! currently revising the soda DOG placement and animation. i’ll get it over to you asap. any ideas/feedback about vibe in the meantime? :-)

I think it’s great, works really well and looks fantastic.

I’m interested though, where do you stand copyright-wise? It appears to be brand new content, but with no ads to fund it. Isn’t that breaching “fair use” copyright or something.

Anyways I’m off to watch “Drawn Together”. :-)

3. 3 Philip Bulley Feb 24th, 2007 at 5:13 pm

Hey Becky,

tubecast.tv doesn’t host any video content, we’re simply linking to video content on other sites, for example YouTube. As you may know, when uploading to YouTube, users are asked to confirm that they have the rights to share the video content of which they are uploading.

tubecast.tv is very much at an experimental development stage, we make no profit from this whatsoever. Happy you’re enjoying it.

I am trying out Tubecast for the first time — Just read about it on techcrunch. I really love the UI. Works flawlessly in Safari 3 on a Mac. I was expecting better video quality though - although I guess Tubecast has no control over this, sadly. Is it possible a search feature will be added? Is there also a list of channels where I can see all the categories and quickly jump to a channel? Keep up the brilliant work!

9. 9 Philip Bulley Aug 25th, 2007 at 8:31 pm

@Felix, Joshua - we’re currently working on a multi-channel guide telling you what is on each channel, making browsing that bit easier. should be up and working soon. We’ll definitely be adding some kind of search, build your own channel at some point.

Hi,

Great job, really.

When I click on an upcoming video and then “Watch Now,” the window simply closes down and the current video keeps going.

Is this a known issue?

My specs: Firefox 2.0.0.6 on OS X 10.4.10, latest Adobe plugins.

11. 11 Philip Bulley Aug 25th, 2007 at 8:53 pm

@Marco - Clicking “Watch now” really simply reloads the site, it does the equivilent to changing the deep link url in your address bar. Do you still have the same problem if you change this manually?

12. 12 Randall Aug 25th, 2007 at 8:54 pm

14. 14 Jon Baer Aug 25th, 2007 at 11:16 pm

Is there or will there be a way to actually create a channel for yourself? Like an aggregation for RSS search feeds? Id love to replace my bookmarks w/ channels on here. Cool stuff and nice implementation.

15. 15 relaxedguy Aug 26th, 2007 at 12:25 am

Great site, but how do I go back “in time” to see a previous video?
I loved the video I was watching, went into other room, came back and now I can’t find it, is it lost forever?

16. 16 Philip Bulley Aug 26th, 2007 at 12:30 am

@relaxedguy - You can browse back to videos already played using your browser history, ie. click on your browser’s back button.

17. 17 Sam Aug 26th, 2007 at 4:48 am

I’m not sure if it’s just my computer, but I cannot access any channels that are not music-related. any idea why?

18. 18 ignazio Lo faro Aug 26th, 2007 at 5:30 am

19. 19 Tony Aug 26th, 2007 at 8:46 am

Love this!….you are really on to something here!

There has got to be a way of decreasing the amount of time the “ONE MOMENT PLEASE” message appears though. If you can fix this one , I really cant fault the app, great work!

20. 20 Emasoft Aug 26th, 2007 at 11:06 am

AMAZING DESIGN! This is the MTV of the future, believe me!

One feature: can I create a personalized channel with with all the video found on the web with a custom search keyword? For example: “anime” or “funny”? There are a lots of them on youtube… but youtube interface sucks… they should buy your design!!! You are a god, sir!

21. 21 Philip Bulley Aug 26th, 2007 at 1:37 pm

@Jon, Emasoft - Yes, hopefully sooner rather than later. Still need to work on the specs, but this is in the pipeline.

22. 22 Xiadix Aug 26th, 2007 at 2:57 pm

Please keep HTPC in mind.

I plan on launching tubecast.tv from my HTPC. So I would love to see a full screen permalink. It would also be nice if you would continue or expand your current trend of using keyboard commands for commands. That would allow HTPC users to create a map to control your app via remote.

Thanks for the nice work.

KevG

23. 23 Philip Bulley Aug 26th, 2007 at 3:23 pm

@Xiadix - Media centre integration is an interesting topic, and one which we will strive to look into in the future.

24. 24 Eliot Aug 26th, 2007 at 3:52 pm

I heard about tubecast via blueace, which is a dutch blog mainly about web2.0.

Anyway, I would like to see if tubecast is really as great as it sounds. But it just keeps loading and nothing more. All I get is the “One moment pleas…” message.
Am I the first one with this problem? Or is it a known problem? Hopefully it works tonight. I’ll try again then. I’ll keep you updated…

25. 25 Chad Aug 27th, 2007 at 10:58 am

I am getting the same thing as Eliot. “One Moment Please…” and then nothing.

Using Firefox 2.0.0.6

Really looking forward to seeing this in action.

26. 26 modingo Aug 27th, 2007 at 11:34 pm

All I get is the One moment please” message.

27. 27 Vincent Aug 28th, 2007 at 1:02 pm

Actually, i can’t see anything. I’m seeing the “One moment please” and nothing else… Even if i change channel.

Is this a known issue ?

My setup: Windows Vista, Firfox 2.0 (same problem with IE7).

I waited for the One moment please the whole day yesterday and left my window open all night long… still, this morning, i had the One moment please flashing…

I’ve got the same problem on another computer with Windows XP - Firefox 2.0 / IE7.

Anything router related ? Firewall ?

Thanks for your help !

28. 28 Josh Aug 28th, 2007 at 3:58 pm

29. 29 Guk Aug 28th, 2007 at 11:14 pm

Thanks

30. 30 nick Aug 30th, 2007 at 3:47 pm

i have the same issue as eliot?!

accessed the site a few days ago - worked great!

now using the same version of safari, lately only get “One moment please…”

has the experiment ended?….

31. 31 Philip Bulley Sep 1st, 2007 at 12:16 pm

@Everyone with “One Moment Please” issues - Sorry about this. Not exactly sure why you are experiencing this either, as it seems to have been working fine for me all week. Does the problem persist if you try refreshing your browser one or more times?

32. 32 Maximilian Sep 1st, 2007 at 7:18 pm

This service “sounds” nice, but don’ t works. I just see “One moment please…”. I have tried Safari 2 and FireFox on my intel Mac. I’ m going to try Safari 3. If it works then, i will reply again…

greetings

maximilian

p.s.: the gui is very nice!

33. 33 Guk Sep 5th, 2007 at 6:18 pm

Doesn’t work :( . So sad..

34. 34 Draximus Sep 5th, 2007 at 7:56 pm

Some channels work such as altitude, but miaow and many others do not.

I just get One moment please …

from England

35. 35 Tony Sep 21st, 2007 at 6:58 am

Philip,
problem does not appear to be fixed with refreshing. Its something more going on here.

I have two separate computers using the same internet connection and running the same version of firefox and IE. One gets the “One Momement Please” message all the time, the other computer always works fine. So there is no way its the browser.

If you think you have fixed it let us know, or need more info.
Cheers
Tony

36. 36 Tony Sep 21st, 2007 at 8:00 am

Okay, so, ive tried a few configurations. This info might help you:

Computer One (The one it works on.)
- Windows XP - Home
- 512mb Ram
- 2.8ghz Pentium 4
- Intel Extreme Graphics 2 98mb
- Newest Flash and Shockwave. (Shockwave 10 and Flash 9d);
- Firefox 2.0.0.7
- IE 07

Computer Two (The one it DOES NOT work on.)
- Windows XP - Pro
- 2046mb Ram
- 3.8ghz Pentium 4
- Nvidia 6200tc 256mb.
- Newest Flash and Shockwave. (Shockwave 10 and Flash 9d);
- Firefox 2.0.0.7
- IE 07

————
Now, i thought it might have something to do with the Flash DLL’s in the system32 folder but (after 3 installations) i got both computers with EXACTLY the same Flash dll’s and versions (Including Shockwave just incase.)

I just thought this information might get you closer to fixing your problem. If you need further testing assistance just let me know.

Thank you for sharing!

First of all congrats for you website bacause of its innovative interface. I actually had a similar idea but never came round to developing it due to lack of flash developing skills. Eitherways i am aware of some similar flash projects like neave.tv and flash joost but your’s has a more consistent interface. My additions to your tv player would be to being able to dynamicly build a channel searching a tag or even using an rss feed. Having static channels (as the content is concerned not the timeline) narrows your website audience. Anyway the whole idea is to be able o dynamicly build channels either by tag inputted in a serach field or via rss I know that is sound more simple than to get actually done but it would be nice to be able to see that feature.

Keep up the good work!

39. 39 Nick K. Nov 10th, 2007 at 4:27 am

Sorry to repeat stuff mentioned above but i hadn’t read all the feedback comments. Either ways i want to suggest something else that is surely not mentioned above:
As i can see your tubecasts’s main focus currently on music, which clips are distinctive and easy to manage. You must be aware of last.fm community. For me it will be or even is this moment speaking the biggest social internet experiment in music [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last.fm]. I could go on many lines explaining last.fm’s features but you’ll better read it’s wiki reference. It officially provides a fully customized music player, that broadcasts in a non-linear fashion, either based on a users profile page or based on music tags. Static content in our digital world is maybe a thing of the past so my idea is to integrate music taste of users by using last.fm’s database to build music connections. Last.fm provides an API for that purpose .This idea has been already developed [http://lasttv.net] but it would be a good idea to be integrated to your page. It is unlikely that the developer of the project mentioned above will provide the knowhow to do so but it’s worth giving a try. The only reason i’m mentioning this despite of this feature already been developed by someone else is that your Flash GUI is the best thing i have seen in the net regarding flash video playback. Anyways it’s just an idea and since your service is still not commercial or attached with any corp. (as far as i know) a cooperation with last.fm’s service would give your video playback service a boost making an fully personalized and user focused service making it an 21st century Video Clip channel

Not reading all the posts above, so forgive if I’m repeating what others have already mentioned, but aside from the HOLY CRAP THIS IS HOT factor, I would recommend a right-click option to view the menu. I didn’t realize it comes up just by hovering my mouse towards the bottom of the screen.

I’m sorry to say that you are 1 year too late to build this kind of application

42. 42 Derf Aug 1st, 2008 at 8:08 am

43. 43 Philip Bulley Aug 4th, 2008 at 6:10 pm

@Derf… lol, yep i should really take the site down for now. I’ve been working on making some big changes, a complete revamp of the underlaying system. I hope to get it online soon. Infact, cheers, that’s what i’ll do :)
